Geometric Abstraction" is a form of abstract art based on the use of geometric forms sometimes though not always, placed in non-illusionistic space and combined into non-objective (non-representational) compositions.
Angelo DeFilippo (born in Lockport NY, 1952), I focus on my experiences of the moment in pursuing my creative expression. I often draw inspiration from experiences, encounters and observations made during my daily neighborhood walks, and going about the daily business of life. “I often immerse myself completely and lose myself in my process. Much like in music, which I listen to often while painting, I riff on what I am being exposed to at any given moment, exploring repeated themes over changing melodies in style, expression and texture on a canvas, versus notes on a page. The educational wanderlust of Angelo’s collegiate years is paralleled in the range of his ongoing, multiple styles. From art at the Columbus College of Art and Design, to mathematics and philosophy at the University of Buffalo, to architecture at the University of Florida, and finally to architectural design at New England’s Boston Architectural College.
